Hairline restoration redesigns or rebuilds the front of your hairline — the single most visible feature of your face frame. Whether you have a receded hairline, a naturally high forehead or an old transplant that looks unnatural, hairline restoration uses Sapphire FUE / DHI to place single-hair grafts in a soft, age-appropriate, ultra-natural line.
What is Hairline Restoration?
The procedure focuses on the frontal zone — usually the first 2-4 cm of the hairline. Single-follicle grafts are used at the very edge to create an irregular, “lightly natural” hairline, with denser doubles and triples placed behind for visual density. The design is critical: hairlines that are too low, too flat or too dense look unnatural and age poorly.
For most patients, hairline restoration uses 1,200-2,500 grafts. It can be performed standalone or combined with mid-scalp / crown work in a larger session.
Who is a Candidate?
- Men with Norwood 2-5 hairlines
- Women with naturally high foreheads or thinning frontal zone
- Patients with a previous transplant whose hairline looks unnatural
- Anyone wanting to lower a high forehead
- People with a stable, healthy donor area
Hairline Design Principles
- Age-appropriate: Hairlines drop slightly with age — designing yours too low can look strange later.
- Soft, irregular front edge: Single grafts placed in a “non-perfect” pattern look the most natural.
- Frame the face: Forehead height, brow position and face shape all guide design.
- Density gradient: Single grafts at the very front, denser placement just behind.
- Conservative is best: A natural, lighter hairline ages far better than an aggressive, low one.
How is it Performed?
- Design session: Hairline drawn together with you. Side angles and front angle are reviewed.
- Donor preparation: Donor area is trimmed and anaesthetised.
- Graft selection: Single grafts for the front edge; doubles/triples for density behind.
- Channel opening / DHI: Channels created with sapphire blades at very natural angles; or grafts placed directly with Choi pen.
- Implantation: Performed slowly with constant symmetry checks.
Recovery
- Day 1-3: Forehead swelling is common, especially day 2-3.
- Day 5-7: First wash; swelling resolves.
- Day 14: Crusts gone.
- Month 3: Possible shock loss.
- Month 4-6: New hairline emerges.
- Month 12-18: Final, natural hairline.
Advantages
- Frames the face permanently and naturally
- Reverses years of recession
- Can lower naturally high foreheads
- Fixes unnatural-looking older transplants
- Permanent and customisable
Frequently Asked Questions
How low can the hairline go?
The new hairline is designed in proportion to your face — typically 7-9 cm above the brow ridge for men. We never design a hairline that looks unnatural for your age.
How many grafts are needed?
1,200-2,500 grafts in most cases. Hairline lowering for women may need slightly fewer (800-1,800).
Will it look natural?
Yes — the front edge uses single grafts in an irregular pattern, and density builds up behind it.
How long until results?
Visible growth starts at month 4-6; final result at 12-18 months.
Is it permanent?
Yes — the donor follicles are genetically resistant to loss. Surrounding natural hair may still recede over time, so a long-term plan and medical therapy may be advised.
